If you’re still on the fence about Mother Goose Time let me just tell you it’s one of the best investments my family and I have made! When my daughter was three we began our preschool journey with Mother Goose Time as buying customers. I was blessed to trade in some blogging and writing work in exchange for the curriculum for the next four years! Now my daughter is seven and helping read the directions for Little Goose to my 15 month old!

All four of my children have benefited in so many ways from this dynamic and diverse preschool program offered by Mother Goose Time!
- Time together
- Early exposure to letters and numbers
- Tons of play based learning
- Delight filled STEAM projects
- Community and social skills
- Movement and outdoor activities
Highlights from 2018-2019
This past year I had a 6 year old, 5 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old. All of us used Mother Goose Time and I was able to adapt the curriculum to fit the needs of each age level. Little Goose, the toddler supplement, and More Literacy and More Math, the kindergartner extension programs made this easy and fun!
I couldn’t possibly list all of our favorites over the years of which there are literally hundreds, so I decided to show you a few of the ways we enjoyed the heck out Mother Goose Time this year!
Favorite STEAM

Our favorite STEAM activity was learning about water displacement with the Aesop Fable, The Crow and the Pitcher from Fables and Folktales! They loved taking turns dropping in the pebbles until the water finally overflowed and “the crow” could take a drink.

Community

The best community activity had to be rescuing our stuffed animals! We all had to work together to save them from the trapper’s net just like the mouse had to save the lion from the trapper’s snare in The Lion and the Mouse, another awesome Aesop’s Fable. The kids were all about using their scissors to save their stuffed friends. Want a fun trick? I surprised the kids with this activity first thing in the morning. They saved their animals, practiced cutting skills, and I made breakfast!

Creative Corner

Invitation to Create and Make and Play are two different and beneficial parts of Mother Goose Time’s Creative Corner. Invitations to Create provide inspiration photos, media, and prompts to help the kids create their very own personal process artwork. Make and Play helps the child to create their own costume, musical instrument, or other toy perfect for thematic and free play.
Invitation to Create

The kids adored learning more about Picasso. They adored seeing the crazy shapes and faces. Using mirrors they used a variety of shapes provided by Mother Goose Time to create their own abstract versions of their own face. Lots of fine motor and shape recognition skills were practiced in this one!

Make and Play

This little guy is all about cars and traffic, so he relished the chance to create his very own stop light. The kids played with their cars and this stop light ALL DAY LONG. He has it hanging in his room, still.

Small Group Learning

Mother Goose Time does a wonderful job of incorporating both table top and group learning for math and literacy. We played tons of games this past year and completed some fantastic projects. The kids had a great time, making learning fun!
Math

My kids had the best time tossing and counting blocks that landed in their boots! You could easily use cups, slippers, bins, whatever. The joy was in the tossing and counting. Why just sit and count when you can toss your manipulatives!?

Literacy

If you have kids learning the alphabet, this is a major win! Use the alphabet sticks provided by Mother Goose Time and split them between the children. Let them hide the sticks in designated spots and then switch places to find the letter sticks the other child or children hid. Have them race each one back to the alphabet chart and place it on the corresponding letter. My kids ask to play this often!

Table Top Learning
Mother Goose Time offers a variety of ways to interest our young learners in literacy and mathematics. Several activities are easily adapted to one or many learners.
Math

In this activity from Going On Safari we explored the concepts of more than and less than. Each time the lion was more than the zebra he got to eat the lion. Now, this wasn’t exactly the way the Mother Goose Time guide suggested we play, but this little guy LOVED it. So, that’s how we played. The curriculum is so fun and readily adaptable to meet the individual needs of our kids.

Literacy

There may be nothing more my kids love than swatting things with a fly swatter. They were thrilled when Mother Goose Time sent them their very own and let them swat letter flies. Because we have multiple ages, this turned into one of the best games we played this year!

Dance n Beats

Mother Goose Time does an amazing job of incorporating movement and music into their basic curriculum package. They go above and beyond by also offering Dance ‘n Beats as a supplement. This amazing dance program not only gets my kids energized and moving, but also gives them opportunities for more active learning. The kids had an amazing time leaping into the air to make hand prints in their chosen color and then measuring to see if they could beat their own personal best.

Little Goose

The toddler supplement, Little Goose has been a life saver and I’m thrilled to hear they are coming out with an Experience Toddler! The simple “tray play” activities have provided me with numerous chances to let the older kids paint and explore math manipulatives without having to wrangle an aggravated and left out little one! In this simple activity we glued some paper towel rolls to a cardboard box and left out some ping pong balls! Simple, but fun!

More Literacy and More Math

My older kids adored the worksheet activities from More Math and More Literacy. They go along with the theme and give the older kids a chance to work on developing their writing, reading, and basic arithmetic skills. Including these workbooks into our regular routine made the transition from preschool to pre-k and kindergarten so much smoother!
