I love how our preschool program from Mother Goose Time seamlessly fits into our day.
We are able to integrate learning and family time in a way that makes it fun and simple.
Let me show you how that works using a recent example where we learned about having a luau.
Morning Greeting
Mother Goose Time provides a calendar, weather charting tools, and a daily topic poster.
Every morning over breakfast we update our calendar and discuss the weather.
We chat a bit about our day’s topic using our daily topic poster.
There is always a discussion question included on the poster to kick start the conversation.
The question for Luau day was “What do you do at a party?”
- Nature Girl volunteered that you play with friends and get gifts.
- Owl started listing party specific foods.
Lei
In the morning following breakfast we complete any invitation to create or make and play activities.
For luau day we made leis.
We used paper flowers, yarn, and straw provided by Mother Goose Time.
I gave the kids markers and scissors.
Luau Stories
While the kids are playing in the afternoon, I introduce a game or other activity from Mother Goose Time.
This month Mother Goose Time supplied some thematic math story cards.
The cards were focused on what foods you might eat at a party like a luau.
This was easy to do with the kids while they were free playing with their blocks.
We simply pretended that the blocks were different food items.
Then, we used our “food items” to answer the questions on the cards.
Story Time
Everyday has a themed book suggestion, which is perfect for story time or nap time.
“We Love a Luaua!” was a wonderful story for our luau day.
The kids love most of the book suggestions from Mother Goose Time.
Would You Rather?
Would You Rather? is a simple game that Mother Goose Time provides that asks the kids questions like, “Would you rather go to a luau party or go on a treasure hunt? Why?”
Our family has found that these are perfect for generating dinner conversation.
My husband is excellent at entertaining us with the “Why?” portion of this question!
Music and Rhymes
Everyday has a rhyme, poem, or song that accompanies the day’s activities.
These are great for when we are waiting, driving in the car, or playing on the swings.
The thematic CD that comes with Mother Goose Time is wonderful for getting the kids grooving and moving.
