This month Mother Goose Time is giving us a chance to learning about Camping!
We’re looking forward to learning number rhymes, character rhymes, little rhymes, and food rhymes.
The kids and I are really looking forward to all the monthly themes for 2017-2018!
Week 1: What can we find at a campsite?
Week 2: What comes out at night?
Week 3: What can you find on a hiking trail?
Week 4: What can you discover on a trip down the river?
Nursery Rhymes comes with teacher resources that make planning and executing a fun learning experience achievable and organized.
- Teacher Guide – all the instructions you need for daily activities and projects with tons of book recommendations, play suggestions, and helpful skill building tips.
- Planning Guide – an easy to use week at a glance calendar with a monthly overview of all the projects.
- Gathering List – any unusual items are easy to review on a one page sheet.
- Little Goose – a toddler supplement (additional 18.00) helps adapt the daily activities for my toddler.
Daily Child Projects
“Camping” is jam packed with wonderful projects including several invitations to create and make and play activities.
We’ll be creating projects inspired by bears, pine cones, and crackling fires. We’ll be playing games like “Scare the Bear” and “Word Fishing.” We will also be making a trail map and creating our very own backpack.
A quick pictorial overview of the daily projects and art included in this month is shown below. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see the finished projects 🙂
Calendar and Daily Activities
Cooking up a campfire snack, going on a raccoon themed scavenger hunt, and creating our very own river are just a few of the fun activities we are looking forward to this month.
Each day we will learn about a fun and important aspect of camping before enjoying related activities.
We also have a whole new list of suggested books and outdoor and STEAM inspired play ideas.
We’ll be sure to share some of our favorites on Facebook and Instagram!
Each month comes with thematic manipulatives. This month, 3-D Shapes and magnifying glass are included.
These manipulatives are used in several of the Mother Goose Time activities and we are most looking forward to using them to play a game called “Raccoon Thief” and to create “Tent Shapes”.
We will also be focusing on the following concepts:
- Color – color review*
- Shape – basic shapes*
- Friendship Trait – responsible
- Pattern – AABC
- Letters – A to Z*
- Word Family – “-et”
- Numbers – 1 to 20*
*During the summer months we review all the concepts we’ve covered during the year.
The month’s musical selections are camping inspired children’s music.
We’ll be listening and dancing to “A-Hiking We Will Go” and “Rainbow of Colors.”
We’ll be moving and grooving to Campfire Songs!
***The music CD is included with the monthly curriculum purchase. Dance n’Beats is an optional dance and fitness program.
This month also includes a celebration kit for Independence Day.
We’ll be playing “Put the Hat on Uncle Same” and creating some “Firework Art.”
There are also some fabulous holiday inspired snack ideas and art projects!
We will also be learning about “The Story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego” with “God Asks Me to Have Faith,” from Experience God (Christian curriculum add-on).
The toddler is always included thanks to the Little Goose Program (toddler supplement).
We will also be adding “More Reading and Writing“and “More Math,” as part of Mother Goose Time’s prek and kindergarten enrichment program.
We hope you’ll join us on our adventures as we learn more about “Camping!”
