We are continuing our A to Zoo adventures with Mother Goose Time! So far we have covered:
Now, we enjoy C is for Camel!
Sandy Letter C

This preschooler loves sand. I suspect most little people do. Heck, I’m a big person and I’m pretty fond of the stuff. In this lesson, my little guy got to create his very own letter “C” and use glue and sand to create a sensory experience that helped him learn the shape of this letter.

First I gave him the cut out “C” provided by Mother Goose Time. Then, I gave him a sticker with a camel on it. This kid loves stickers! Then, he was given free reign with the glue to create his very own design and put sand onto it. He then used that “C” to play with other books and look for the letter “C”. He used his A to Zoo Animal Book and found the camel. The sand makes a great sensory tracing experience.
Note: We did our tracing with the letter “C” with sand before we glued it to the letter. We were inside today.
Where’s the Camel?

These thematic posters have always been a huge hit every month. This month is no exception. We found the camel and other creatures suggested via the “I Spy Glasses.” Then we pretended to make animal tracks of the different animals, especially the camel in our oatmeal. It was what was for breakfast and easier than navigating more sand indoors or play dough.

Counting Camels

It’s so easy to adapt the Mother Goose Time math supplies to what you need at the time. Since we were inside eating breakfast we played a few clean and easy games right at the kitchen island during breakfast.
First we placed all the cards dot side up and he had to guess which number was on the other side. He was delighted to see that there was a camel holding the numerical answer on the other side.

After putting all the cards in numerical order from smallest to greatest and then greatest to smallest, we played one more game. All the cards were put dot side up except one and he had to guess the numerical value of the missing card. We had a good time!
